Competition news

August Medal

August Medal was played off the yellows this week with the excessive rainfall creating a lack of roll, hope everybody enjoyed a slight change of pace with the tee markers. Weather wasn’t great again but you wouldn’t have guessed with some great scores in.

Division 1

We had two Nett 66s in division one, the winner was Jonny Walker who just beat Billy Neill on countback, two great score.

Division 2

Next up was division two and we had a clear winner which was Rob Eldred with a nett 67, he beat Neil Johnson who had a nett 69.

Division 3

Last but not least was division 3, another clear winner which was Darrell Stansfield with a nett 69 and in second place was Brian Launder with a nett 71. Congratulations to all and well done on qualifying for the medal final for the winners.

Junior Coaching

Junior coaching is back this Saturday, usual time of 10 pm. Numbers have been great last few weeks so let’s hope we can keep that going and the weather is nice for a change!

Variety is the spice of life

Whatever happened to having a ‘textbook’ swing? If you were to watch golf on TV you’d see all sorts of different swings that have propelled these golfers to the top of the world, and the same can be said on the greens too.

There's definitely no single approach when it comes to how you grip your putter. You have a more traditional no-fuss approach that is favoured by the likes of Tiger Woods; a left-below-right grip which is a recent craze made famous by Jordan Spieth's putting heroics; and then the opposite extreme in anchoring that has recently been banned by the R&A.
