Norton Salver & Calvert Cup

Stuart Dozey shot a five-under par 66 to win the Norton Salver, while Rob Sanderson's 67 earned him the Calvert Cup on Sunday. Credit to Stuart’s hard work and his new set of Callaways have set him up for a deserving win.

Well done to Rob who has been away for most of the season as his work schedule see’s a lot of his time based in Germany so well done to you both.

Norton Salver Result

1st - S Dozey - 66.
2nd - A Green - 68.
3rd - M Spink - 68.
4th - G Howe - 68.

Calvert Cup Result

1st - R Sanderson - 67.
2nd - S Ellis - 70.
3rd - S Blease - 72.

Stuart Dozey then completed the hat trick of wins in one day as he was then drawn out for the key draw. I just hope he’s done the lottery this week.

Junior news

Sheila Collis Salver

On Saturday the Juniors played their first major so to speak, playing for the Sheila Collis Salver we had 9 juniors, which is a huge increase on last years attendances. Our winner was Bobby Walker with a fantastic score of 18 points for 9 holes.

Also pictured is young Sam Sweete who has just turned 8 years old and is showing real signs to be a great young golfer. Sam won our first skills for life award for the month of June. He has shown huge commitment to turn up week in week out, his determination and willingness to help and learn from others is fantastic to see at such a young age.

Wow. What a strike

How good does it feel when you strike the ball right out of the sweet spot? Pretty special, right? As much as we'd all love to, striking the centre of the clubface on every shot isn't realistic, which is why opting for some irons with added MOI could make all the difference.

What is MOI?

An iron’s actual sweet spot is no bigger than a pinhead, with anything struck outside resulting in the clubhead beginning to twist at impact – this is what is commonly referred to as MOI. The higher a club's MOI, the more stable it is through impact and therefore more resistant to twisting. So...
