Individual Stableford Another bit of nice weather this week for the competition and there was a good turnout. The winner this week on countback with 42 points was Keith Barker, fantastic round of golf well done. He just pipped D Alderson who also had 42 points. |
Winter OOM finalized results! The winner of the final week of the winter OOM was Mark Wicks with 30 points! A great round of golf over 12 holes. The runner up was Mick Campbell with another great score of 28 points. That was the final week of the Race To Fulford which finalized the ten people who qualified, Jonathon Jarvis has informed me he cannot attend which means eleventh place takes his spot!

I’d like to thank everyone who has played in our winter version of the castle – the race to Fulford where we will be playing the final this Friday, look out for next week’s newsletter for the grand final and as you can see it is going down to the last day as Martin Catt & John Simpson have it all play for!
Summer is upon us which will then mean the castle will now be played on Tuesdays throughout the summer months!

Entering his prime? “I’m getting older, but I feel I’m getting better” – Paul Casey. There’s hope for us all yet then. 41-year-old Englishman Paul Casey claimed his own piece of PGA Tour history by becoming the first man to successfully defend the Valspar Championship at the weekend. For Casey, it seems victories are like buses; you wait nine years between tournament wins and then two come along in the space of 12-months, and it could not have come at a better time. Three weeks out from The Masters, the entire field toiled during windy conditions on the Copperhead Course but, despite shooting a 1-over 72 on Sunday, Casey held his nerve to steal a one-shot victory. |
Before Sunday's play commenced, many thought it would be a Ryder Cup-style shootout between world number one Dustin Johnson and Casey. However, this never really materialised as DJ struggled to his first over-par final round since the Genesis Open (mid-Februray!) with a three-over-par 74. With no birdies, it also proved to be the first time since the 2017 WGC HSBC-Championship that Johnson failed to record a single hole under par in a final round. Despite this, the American still ended tied-sixth for his fourth straight top-ten finish; not bad for an off day. Quiz time Paul Casey’s back-to-back Valspar victories is impressive stuff, but he is not the first Englishman to win the tournament. The question is simple, who was? As usual, the quiz if just for fun but if you pop down to the shop and tell me the answer, I’ll be sure to give you a high-five! Click here to let me know your answer. |
Sometimes it's not only their golfing ability that impresses us when watching the world's best on TV, but also the stylish clothing that they wear. Golfers, like Rafa Cabrera-Bello, always wear the latest golf-specific clothing to give them an edge on the course, as you can see below. |
| Rafa Cabrera-Bello | FootJoy clothing
|
|
FootJoy's latest collection for spring/summer '19 oozes style and is, without doubt, one of their best clothing ranges to date. The main thing we love this year is FootJoy's combination of striking colours and block designs, enabling them to create a fashionable range that wouldn't look out of place off the course.
You too can dress like Rafa by popping into the shop and taking a look at the full FootJoy collection in-store. |
